Pop Composing Course *FREE iPad 4 - 6 pax per class/ Individual

Objective: To equip the student with the skills to write different genres of contemporary pop songs. Students will learn to be a self-sufficient songwriter and be able to write, arrange and record their own songs!

Each level is divided into 4 terms. Term 1 focuses on the basic music theory, chord progressions, accompaniment styles, sing and play skills, and improvisation. in conjunction with these foundation knowledge, different genres of music that are popular in today's music industry and how to write similar songs, will be taught in Term 2. in Term 3 and 4, students will learn to compose songs subjectively and basic music arrangements using the iPad and complete their own demo recordings!

This course is divided into Level One and Level Two. Level One focuses on the basic music theory, chord progressions, accompaniment styles, Sing-and-Play skills and improvisation. In conjunction to these knowledge and foundation skills, composition and presentation of different music styles wih given chord progression and accompaniment styles will be covered in Level Two.

Level One : 48 sessions 2 hours per session

Term 1 : (12 sessions) Basic music theory, accompaniment styles and sing-and-play skills.
Term 2 : (12 sessions) Singing and playing repertoires of different styles I and learning how to record short repertoires on iPad.
Term 3 : (12 sessions) Singing and playing repertoires of different styles II and learning how to record short repertoires on iPad.
Term 4 : (12 sessions) Improvisation of short repertoires.

Level Two : 48 sessions 2 hours per session *All students must pass Level One in order to proceed to Level Two. Exemption is only applicable after assessed by our instructor.

The student will be taught to compose songs of different genres with the help of given chord progressions and accompaniment styles after which the composition will be presented using the sing-and-play skills acquired in Level One. The syllabus is divided into 4 terms to cover various song genres.
